Affiliate Marketing is not a JOB

March 31st, 2008 by Author kim

I have had five people that I know personally (and umpteen strangers) in the last week ask me for information about working from home. Yes, I work from home. I am my own boss. Most people don’t understand exactly how I make my money. I added a video to my Affiliate Marketing 101 page to better explain what affiliate marketing is.

I love what I do, but it’s not for everyone. Yes, I am able to work from home and set my own hours around my kids’ schedules and take a day off if I want, but I sit at this very desk way over 40 hours per week; it’s not part-time.  Many people also think working at home would save on daycare, but luckily my kids are in school because there is no way I could concentrate with little children around. And being your own boss takes motivation, more than I have some days.

I think most people that end up at this site via search engines are looking to work from home doing easy jobs like data entry for someone else, and that’s fine.  I added a search form at the top of this page for those very lookers.  Vary your search terms for different results (ie telecommute data entry).

Here is an excerpt from one of the emails I received this week… “What’s the best way to tell if an online opportunity is legit? I found a rebate processor online company that says you can make $15 for every rebate you do, which takes 4 minutes. But they want $200 to sign up for it.”  For one, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.  And second of all, why would you pay money to someone who is supposed to pay you?

My friend, Pamela La Gioia over at TeleworkRecruiting.com actually helps people in every field find telecommuting employment.  She has scoured the net finding over 1,700 companies willing to hire people that can work from home. Sure, she charges a small fee for access, but it is not a scam, I promise.  She has bills to pay as well and should be rewarded for all her hard work.  I think of it as, if I helped you find a job, wouldn’t you repay me by taking me out to dinner? Check it out!

I also get requests asking if I personally (or my company) is hiring people to do data entry.  Unless you are willing to work for less than my son makes adding coupon codes (which is nadda considering he gets food, clothing and shelter), then sorry, no.

We are looking for a few good people to write blog posts on various websites, but we pay per original content used, and not per hour.  So, if you have a passion about a specific topic that you’d like to write about, contact us for consideration.

Have a good week!

Free Shirt Friday – Solio

Kim Wearing Green Solio Shirt

I picked a green shirt from the pile today as I had lots of “green” on my mind lately.  This t-shirt is from Solio.com. Solio is a Universal “Hybrid” Charger that’s powerful enough to charge all of your handheld electronic products (ie Cell Phone, iPod, GPS, Digicam, etc), anywhere under the sun because it can accept power from either the sun or the wall storing this energy within Solio’s internal rechargeable battery. I found the lowest price for the Solio Universal Hybrid Charger at Paragon Sports for $99.95.  Cool gadget and sound investment, if you ask me.

Want me to model your shirt?  Contact muah.

Speaking of “being green”, check out these 10 Eco-Friendly Ideas to Live Green & Save

And of “making green”, check out Revolution Money Exchange (PayPal’s newest competitor) where you get $25 buckaroos just for signing up. Remember when PayPal gave away bonuses for signing up? I do and reaped the rewards! Let’s hope this is as profitable.

And just because I like this “green” post, Are Green M&M’s Really Aphrodisiacal?

P.S. I upgraded this blog to Wordpress 2.3.3 because I having troubles with permalinks not working, and now I’m having trouble making links in posts under “visual” mode (have to switch to “code”).  I’m anxious for Version 2.5 to be released, and if it’s as good as it claims it’s gonna be, I may upgrade all of my other blogs.
