*This post was originally entitled the “Top 7″ but as I find more twitter revenue avenues to use, I’ll update accordingly.

Do I tweet for money? Yes, I admit I do.

Now I don’t just tweet out blatant ads. In fact I reject over 50% of the ads offered to me because they are irrelevant to my audience. I’m not going to jeopardize losing subscribers that way.

So many new “Twitter Networks” are popping up that I thought I’d list the ones I’m currently using (yes, this list is for me to remember, too). I’ll put in alphabetical order as to not show favoritism.

Ad.ly – I signed up for this one after Shoemoney recommended it (he’s so gonna win that Macbook Pro for referring the most friends).

Magpie – This was the first twitter network that originally randomly published tweets on your behalf, but they’ve now joined the cool kids club and let you approve/deny tweets.

MyLikes – Create sponsored likes (tweets) and get paid per click. Plus refer friends to win an Apple iPad.

Revtwt – Easy enough to use (can manage multiple twitter streams under one account). Lots of international opps. 20% Referral Earnings.

Sponsored Tweets – Ok, this one has been my favorite so far. Why? Because I’m a fan of Izea, and I’ve made the most money from them so far. So much for impartiality.

Twittad – Twittad also offers the opportunity for advertisers to sponsor your twitter background with advertisements. I’m okay with pimping out my background on my non-personal twitter accounts.

My only complaint about all of them (except Revtwt) is having to have an account for each separate twitter account. I have several twitter accounts – that I manage through Hootsuite – and it’s a pain to have to have log in, log out, log in, log out, etc.

And yes, dear FTC, all of the above are referral links where I may earn a referral fee if you join and make money as well.

Additional Twitter Advertising Networks that I found through Google that I have not personally tested yet:

Assetize – no referral program

BeTweeted – referral program for advertisers only

Twivert – this one looks the most promising

Am I missing any? If so, leave your referral link, and I’ll sign up through you.

Be sure to follow @workinmypajamas for post updates. I’ll auto-follow you back and try not to blast out too many twitter ads.

I recently spoke on the “Affiliate Marketing Blogging Secrets” panel, part of the Monetization track at Blogworld Expo in Las Vegas with….

Jim Kukral, Moderator
Brian Littleton, President of Shareasale (shown in pic with me)
Angel Djambazov, Managing Editor of Revenews.com
and Todd Sawicki, stepping in for Ben Huh from ICanHasCheezburger.com.

I’ve had several people since then ask me for a list of the “tools” I mentioned that I personally use on my sites.

Many of my websites use the WordPress platform, therefore I incorporate a lot of WP-Plugins (as I haven’t taken the time to convert to Thesis Theme yet).

Link Cloaking – I use this to mask my affiliate links, and it automatically adds the “nofollow” attritube. There is also NinjaAffiliate which is more robust, but is not free. Someone also mentioned SkimLinks.com, but I haven’t had time to experiment with them yet.

I also like to import content from my other sites that aren’t powered by WordPress and my Twitter status updates into the sidebars of my blogs, therefore I use the Aggregate Plug-In and Twitter Tools. More recommended WordPress Plug-Ins.

Speaking on monetizing my blogs, my main source of income is generated through affiliate programs, but I also generate revenue through additional sources, such as…

Chitika – The organic traffic visitors that I receive via Google Images generally aren’t looking to buy anything, so Chitika is cool in that it only shows relevant ads to the keywords they used to search with that pay per click.

List Building – Collect email addresses on individual post pages. I use AWeber to create hover pop-overs (usually unblockable), sign them up to receive the RSS feed via email, and set the thank you to a CPA offer (ie MarketLeverage Email Submit).

Affilistore – I have played around with this free downloadable script to make datafeed stores. If I can make a website with it in under an a hour, I’m presuming most others can as well. I downloaded datafeeds pertaining to my niche from ShareASale, changing my user id and re-uploaded to my new site. The only “marketing” I’ve done is adding the website and it’s sitemap to Google Overview and watched the sales come in.

Banner Ads – Since most people do not actually click through a banner, I prefer to shy away from CPA and CPC offers, but instead sell banner space or use a banner network such as Glam Media or TodayShow Network that pay per impression.

Google Adsense I presume everyone already knows about Google Adsense? Chloe Spencer from NeopetsFanatic.com fully monetizes her website with only Google Adsense.

Chloe was on the panel before mine “Are You Getting the Most Money Out of Your Blog as You Can?” with Dave Taylor, Tim Jones and Chris Pirillo, which was similar to our panel.

Some people wrote blog reviews about our panel, including Ms. Babble and Lisa Barone of Outspoken Media. I think our session was too “basic” for them and aimed more towards newbies. Can’t please ‘em all.

Personally I think twitter has helped my “company” (aka websites) tremendously.

IZEA is a social media marketing company and the world leader in sponsored conversations. They operate a network of over 250,000 bloggers and 25,000 advertisers around the globe.

SocialSpark.com, my favorite IZEA property, is a blog marketing network that connects advertisers with bloggers through an online marketplace. I personally have taken several “opportunities” that include Pay-Per-Click (can be promoted via Twitter and Facebook), Sponsored Websites (that put hover ads on your websites), and Blog Posts (that I fully disclose are being sponsored).

I think Social Spark is not only profitable, but fun (and I wish they had an affiliate/referral program). Yesterday I took an hour to review a few opps and ended up writing two blog posts about what I learned on those sites. Most posts require 200 words which isn’t hard to come up with. Considering the price paid for post varies from $5 to $300 per post (mine were both somewhere in the middle of that), it turns out to be a pretty good hourly rate! Plus I added new unique content to my sites, so it was a double bonus.

Check out BenSpark.com’s SocialSpark Saturdays for great insight on how to most of out of SocialSpark. You can join me on his “I’m Not A Famous Blogger” Crew.

Recently IZEA also released Sponsored Tweets that matches tweeters with advertisers. This is the best “get paid to twitter” program I’ve seen thus far as you can review and accept or reject the tweet that that the advertiser would like to send out. Some advertisers even let you write your own tweet. I will decline a tweet if the “ad” doesn’t fit my audience, as I don’t want to risk losing valuable followers if they think I’m spamming them. But if an advertiser wants to advertise a shoe sale via Twitter to my @shoeaholics followers, everyone benefits! Sign up at SponsoredTweets.com.

*I also got to meet Ted Murphy, Founder/CEO of IZEA, while in NYC. Watch for a “Famous Tongue Photo” in an upcoming post!

I’ve praised the Power of Twitter many times over now. And it was a twitter conversation after my 4/17/09 Free Shirt Friday post that led to today’s featured Free Shirt…

@kimarketing Does this shirt make my butt look big? http://twurl.nl/dgpm0d It’s Free Shirt Friday! Gotta love pre-publish, I’m actually still in my pj’s.

@mookie94 @kimarketing can you please send me a shirt that MAKES my butt look big? i’m a member of the NBA — No-Butts Of America!

@kimarketing @mookie94 Wonder if Lipo could be transferred? I’ll share. But I need a http://www.94rock.fm tshirt first!

@mookie94 @kimarketing that’s one of the few things i actually have the power to make happen! also, i can play the willam tell overture on my face.

Ok, so it only took 6 weeks for me to actually get the shirt from 94 Rock’s Morning Host, Mookie, but like many things, it was worth the wait. And I didn’t even have to sleep with him.

Anyhoo, I usually don’t participate in the whole #followfriday hashtag scheme of things, and I usually ignore tweets that just list names with no reasons as to why I should follow them. Example…

@kimarketing #followfriday @shoppingkim @shoeholics @stealthestyle @freebiefox @cybersweeps @preemietwins @huskersetc

Had the above been a real tweet, I do recommend following all of the above twitter users because they are all mine! And they are set up to auto-follow courtesty of TweetLater.com (and auto-unfollow, so you can’t just follow and unfollow to increase your count without reciprocating). I do recommend creating a twitter id for each website you have. If you don’t have time to maintain multiple accounts, set them up on auto-pilot with TwitterFeed.com to tweets your RSS feeds. Can you say free traffic?

So today is Friday and I anticipate seeing several #followfriday recommendations. I prefer the tweets that are genuine and tell me why I should follow someone. Like this…

@kimarketing #followfriday I recommend following @mookie94 because he’s crazy like me and his tweets make me laugh milk out of my nose.

The milk is in reference to yet another tweet. And that recommendation is sincere - Mookie didn’t pay me (much anyway) to write that.

So thanks 94 Rock for the tee! 94Rock.fm is a local radio station for me in Northeast Nebraska (94.7), but you can listen live via the internet from anywhere! Now what do I have to do to score some free tickets to the Heart/Eddie Money and Big & Rich/Zac Brown Band Concerts coming up…

Move over Amazon, Zappos.com sells books!

When I toured Zappos‘ headquarters while in Vegas for ASW09, they handed out cool bookbags and let us pick out a complimentary book. Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos personally read and recommends every book choice. Since I finished reading my book, I tweeted this to Tony yesterday asking if he had a list online of all the recommended books so I could add some more to my library…

Tony direct messaged me today with this link:
zappos.com/zappos-library

I was not only impressed to receive a response from the CEO within 24 hours, but also impressed by what I saw when I clicked on the link! Not only were the recommended books listed, but with links to them for sale directly from Zappos.com!

Then being the bargain shopper that I am, I did some price comparison shopping on the “Most Popular” book titles…

Flipping The Switch by John G. Miller, $13.57 with Free Shipping (remember Zappos offers Free Shipping Both Ways on ALL orders). Amazon Price $13.57 Plus Shipping if you’re not an Amazon Prime Member.

Purple Cow by Seth Godin, $14.25 Free Shipping. Amazon Price $14.25

The Big Moo by Seth Godin, $13.57 Free Shipping. Amazon Price $13.57

See a trend here (besides Seth Godin’s association with cattle)? Yep, all the same prices. Coincidence? I think not. Being an Amazon Prime Member, I’m probably more apt to order from there, as I get Free 2-Day Shipping. But for those of you not as “prime” as myself, then ordering from Zappos.com would be the better option.

Now which book should I order first? Which books have you read yet?

P.S. You are following me on Twitter @KIMarketing, right? I was playing around at TwitBacks.com, so check out my new (free and made in under a minute) background.

Do you follow me on twitter yet?

Thanks to following @delldiscounts on Twitter, I got one for only $199 with free shipping! Now I just need to play with it to figure out the Ubuntu operating system.

I did opt the extra few bucks to add a webcam as I was hoping to use it to make my Mailbox Monday videos. Unfortunately on my first attempt, the quality wasn’t very good. But I played with “Cheese” and took the pic for today’s Free Shirt Friday post. I changed the setting to Noir/Blanc so you could read the words on the shirt better – those words being SPAMfighter.

SPAMfighter is an award winning professional tool that, you guessed it, fights spam. The Standard download is free, and the Pro download for businesses is only $29/year. Features include:

Blacklist/Whitelist protection

Free automatic updates

Report spam abuse with one click

Teresa Caldwell from 4urWorld originally headed up the Affiliate Summit Mentor Program that debuted at ASE08 in Boston. Teresa did a great job, and I made a new friend with my mentee, Cindy of Sweepstake Supplies - how cool that we both have sweepstakes sites!

Unfortunately, Teresa had to step down from coordinating the Mentor Program for ASW09 in Vegas to care for her mother. We missed you Teresa! Jen Goode (aka Penguin Lady and Buffet liner-upper) took over the program, and did a super fantastic job as well!

The mentee that I was originally paired with was only in Vegas for about 24 hours (wish we could have hung out longer, Mary), but after befriending @BajaLori on Twitter, I asked Jen if I could take on two mentees. Lori is a native of Las Vegas and heads up Las Vegas Net Daily. We had a lot of fun together! She not only arranged a tour of Zappos for a dozen of us affiliate marketers, but chauffered some of us in her cool Hummer, and presented me with some awesome Chanel inspired earrings that I had been eyeing on her ears! Thanks so much Lori!

Maybe next time, I’ll get paired with a young, good looking guy like Southbeach Annie did!
