Affiliate Marketing is not a JOB
I have had five people that I know personally (and umpteen strangers) in the last week ask me for information about working from home. Yes, I work from home. I am my own boss. Most people don’t understand exactly how I make my money. I added a video to my Affiliate Marketing 101 page to better explain what affiliate marketing is.

I love what I do, but it’s not for everyone. Yes, I am able to work from home and set my own hours around my kids’ schedules and take a day off if I want, but I sit at this very desk way over 40 hours per week; it’s not part-time. Many people also think working at home would save on daycare, but luckily my kids are in school because there is no way I could concentrate with little children around. And being your own boss takes motivation, more than I have some days.I think most people that end up at this site via search engines are looking to work from home doing easy jobs like data entry for someone else, and that’s fine. I added a search form at the top of this page for those very lookers. Vary your search terms for different results (ie telecommute data entry).
Here is an excerpt from one of the emails I received this week… “What’s the best way to tell if an online opportunity is legit? I found a rebate processor online company that says you can make $15 for every rebate you do, which takes 4 minutes. But they want $200 to sign up for it.” For one, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. And second of all, why would you pay money to someone who is supposed to pay you?
My friend, Pamela La Gioia over at TeleworkRecruiting.com actually helps people in every field find telecommuting employment. She has scoured the net finding over 1,700 companies willing to hire people that can work from home. Sure, she charges a small fee for access, but it is not a scam, I promise. She has bills to pay as well and should be rewarded for all her hard work. I think of it as, if I helped you find a job, wouldn’t you repay me by taking me out to dinner? Check it out!
I also get requests asking if I personally (or my company) is hiring people to do data entry. Unless you are willing to work for less than my son makes adding coupon codes (which is nadda considering he gets food, clothing and shelter), then sorry, no.
We are looking for a few good people to write blog posts on various websites, but we pay per original content used, and not per hour. So, if you have a passion about a specific topic that you’d like to write about, contact us for consideration.
Have a good week!
Lynn Terry: A Work-at-Home Mom I HAVE To Meet!
I was flattered to read this nice article about me written by Lynn Terry:
Kim Rowley: A Work-at-Home Mom I HAVE To Meet!
Her and I have many similiarities (so many that it’s kinda eerie), and I’m anxious to meet her in person!Lynn challenged me to a ”Cross Blog Conversation” to which she asked…
Kim - The article in Revenue Magazine states that you have around 50 affiliate sites & blogs, and that your 2 aunts help you write content. Do you also outsource some of the work, or how do you manage the daily tasks involved with maintaining such a large number of sites?
Hmmm, I sometimes wonder, too, how I manage! It takes a lot of caffeine! Yes, I do outsource a lot of programming, web design and content, either to people I have met or contract through Elance.com. As for daily tasks, I have a “routine” that I try to follow (check email, stats, logs, etc) and I keep a calendar to mark off blog posts made. I’ll put in extra hours before Vegas to set up future posts to run while I’m gone, so I can enjoy the conference more.
I couldn’t decide what question to ask Lynn in return - I think I have more personal questions than business questions since we seem like we were separated at birth! Can’t wait to meet her in Vegas and gab away!
