I have been ordering free business cards from Vistaprint for years. They offer several free designs that you can add your personalized text to, and you can receive 250 cards free (just pay shipping, around $5). And the offer isn’t just for first-time users – you can place multiple orders and even re-order as well.

Business cards don’t always have to be just your name/address/etc.  I usually order them to advertise my various websites and offer promos, and then I can use them to stuff in goodie or thank you bags.

The only drawbacks are:

• The cards are slightly smaller than the average sized business card, but nowadays you see cards in all shapes and sizes.
• The Vistaprint logo is printed on the back of the card (free cards for you = free advertising for them), but you can pay extra to remove the tagline. But if I use them to promote myself, I don’t mind the tagline.
• You will probably be bombarded with extra offers during and after checkout, so be sure you are aren’t agreeing to any extra items or recurring charges (I never have, but my mother unknowingly has).

My daughter had to remind me after school today that it was Free Shirt Friday by asking if I needed her to take my picture!  I had just gotten out of the shower – yes I was working in my pajamas all day – so definitely not a good photo opp.  Good thing, this free shirt from 1&1 was on the top of the pile that required a back shot, so you can’t see me without my warpaint.

Cool beans.

It took me longer than normal to write this post because I upgraded to WordPress 2.5 and have been playing around with all the neat new options. I can show/hide the “Kitchen Sink” – ok, I find humor in the small stuff. I will definitely have to upgrade some of my other blogs, if I could just find a few extra hours in the day to play more on the computer.

So, without further udo, today’s tshirt is courtesy of PeaPod.com – “Spread Peas on Earth” with peas arranged as a “Peace” sign – you gotta admit that’s pretty clever advertising. I hope whoever came up with that slogan got a raise.  Peapod is an online grocery store, and if you’re lucky enough to live in one of their service areas (Chicagoland, Milwaukee, SE WI, CT, MA, RI, NY, NJ, Washington DC, MD, VA), you can get $10 off your first order through this link. No Nebraska, drats.  I order practically everything online, and someday I’m sure I’ll be able to order perishable groceries as well. PeaPod has affiliate programs through CJ.com (pays $10-$20 depending on number of actions) and OfferForge (pays $12). 

I won $250 prepaid commission (or so my certificate says) from OfferForge at Affiliate Summit in Vegas, but I’m still waiting patiently for my check.  And Squeak won a “Strategy in a Box” (or so her certificate says) from them, whatever that may be, and it’s ”valued at $2500″.  She tried to “sell her box” for $25 to our dinner table that night, but didn’t have any takers, and she hasn’t even heard back from them about getting a prize.  Their network looks respectable, but I’m not going to promote them until/if I get paid and Squeak gets a response.  Because my favorite networks communicate and cut checks in a timely fashion.
