Working from home can be difficult, and it can get even harder when there are kids in the mix, too. Separating your work time and mothering time can be an insurmountable task, but if you use these handy hints you can make this task a bit more manageable.

When you go from a Stay At Home Mom (SAHM) to a Work At Home Mom (WAHM), you’ll encounter a whole load of new challenges in staying productive. If you have young kids, then take the opportunity to do the hardest tasks while they are asleep. These little sections of free time will be your way to get most of the work done in the least amount of time which is invaluable to the worker.

While the kids are awake, make sure that you have activities on hand to keep them occupied. This will cut down on the amount of time you spend in between each task keeping them amused. Giving them educational or problem solving games can also help their intelligence in the long run, so it’s a good idea overall.

Be sure to take a break every now and then as this will keep you focused in the long run and give you some time that isn’t designated for work or looking after the kids. Some sites that you could visit include:

  • www.netflix.com – Here you’ll find programming for parents and kids so you can watch together or apart. You can spend a few hours this way and then get right back into work when you’re ready.
  • www.newcasinosonline.co – If you have time to play online casino games, check out the reviews on this site. When your time is precious it’s important to keep playing on the best sites, instead of scouting out other sites.
  • www.twitter.com – Social media is a great way to relax and also promote your business online.

Keeping your home childproof will also help you work away without having to run after your child. If there are less dangers in the home then you won’t find yourself worrying as much about their safety when you’re distracted for a moment. If you have an office space then make sure that it’s equipped with everything you need, check out this blog post on this for our advice. Don’t be afraid to ask others for help occasionally watching your child as this can be used sparingly to give you the extra boost that you need. You can’t rely on this all of the time though, as friends and family can soon be fed up with this.

Using your smartphone or tablet to keep your business moving when you are can also help the amount that you can achieve in a day. This way when an idea comes to you when you’re doing the school run or running late for a meeting then you can hammer out a bit of work on the way.

You might think that one of the biggest positives about working at home is not having to dress in business attire. Dress for success every day, whether it’s wearing a full suit or just getting changed out of your jammies.

When you’re tidying up the home, don’t forget about the home office. Keep it organized and ready to use, and then you’ll be able to find everything you’re looking for. It will help you stay free of distractions too, as once you travel off to look for something you might find it more difficult to come back to the work at hand.

Set down a firm line between working at home and household chores. Make sure that your family respects this and understand that because you are at home doesn’t mean that you’ll be doing the chores at the same time. Keep your expectations of what you can achieve in this scheduled time realistic as if you make your goals too large or out there you’ll be less likely to succeed in the long run.
