This week I had the pleasure of interviewing Jolene Ejmont who runs a family travel blog with her husband Andrzej and two daughters, Katie-Lee and Lily.

Tell me a bit about your blog.

Wanderlust Storytellers is a family travel blog …. a little dream we have always had.  To be able to write about our travel stories and to share our experiences with others is the best job we have ever had!

When we are not in Australia, you will find us traveling. We venture out to see not only touristic destinations, but also the hidden gems.  We simply crave to immerse ourselves in the real culture of the place, learn and connect as much as we can with the people and of course to taste all the yummy cuisine of those countries!  And there are so many to taste still!  Well, that only gives us a purpose to see and taste more!

Is your travel blog your full-time job?

Whilst hubby and I both run the travel blog, I am the lucky one to be at home and work on it on a full-time basis.  Andrzej still has his full time job that he has to juggle with the blog as well.  We hope that he will be able to work on the blog on a full time basis in the near future.

Since you travel a lot, do you home school your children?

Both our older girls are enrolled in school.  Whilst I have a teaching background myself, so home schooling is an option, currently we are trying to get them in the routine of school life where they can make friends and socialise.  It does mean that we tend to take them out for a week here or there to travel, but we mostly try to travel during school holidays and over weekends.

Do you have any advice for one who would like to start a travel blog or any blog for that matter?

My advice is that if you are thinking of starting a blog, just do it!  We actually have a post on how to set up your travel blog (or any blog) in 3 easy steps.  My one word of warning is though that if you are planning to build your travel blog into a business, do know that it truly is hard work and it takes ages before you might see the rewards financially of your efforts!

I see you have yet to visit the United States. Is that on your list to visit? And if so, where would you want to visit in the USA?

Yes, it is!  We are mostly travelling closer to Australia in order to keep the travel costs down, but we hope to travel to USA at some point in the future!  Andrzej really wants to explore New York City, whilst I’m more excited by places such as The Horseshoe Bend! I think a roadtrip through USA over a number of months would be incredible!

Thanks for the interview Jolene! I hope to make it to Australia someday, so maybe we will cross paths!
