There is a lot of work that can go into building the ultimate blog. If you are looking to increase readership with impressive results, you can try a few of the following steps.

  1. Take a look at the content on your blog and focus on creating quality reading content for your visitors. The more creative your content is, the easier it will be to grow your readership naturally.
  2. Each of your blog posts should be focused on a solid main idea. This main idea can be supplemented with other ideas as long as they are relatable.
  3. It is important that you are smart about your posts and their length. There are times when as little as just 300 words can create a nice blog post and it is best to try to make it so that you do not go over 500 to 600 words. Having blog posts that are too long can cause you to lose your readers part-way through.
  4. Try to utilize subheadings and bold fonts whenever possible, just make sure that you do not overdo it. The goal is to have a blog that fosters a quality reading experience for all viewers. The reader has to be able to look through the blog post to enjoy text that is to the point and easy to digest. The keywords and their ability to find them will often determine if they are going to linger and stay immersed in the blog.
  5. When it makes sense, use numbered lists or bullet points. This is a good way to offer a positive, simple reading experience.
  6. Try to add in small instances of humor whenever you can. A blog is never a place where you have to be too serious all of the time and readers like to see the human side of their bloggers.
  7. Do not be afraid to have a bit of controversy on your blog. When you write things that people tend to debate over, it can be scary but worth it once you see the interaction between readers. Reader engagement is also a nice way to get precious shares and even more readers.
  8. Try to add one image to each blog post, just be sure that you are using your own photos or you are using stock photos from the right websites. Here are some spring cleaning tips for blogs from nPower.
  9. Spark conversation in the comment section on your post by encouraging readers to share opinions or asking for their response. Without this coaxing, you may see that not many people will take a moment to comment.
  10. Social media and quality promotion can help greatly and make a notable difference to the number of people that come to your blog – make sure to use it.
  11. Create a space that is easy for readers to comment. The last thing someone wants to do is have to go through elaborate sign-in processes just to comment on a blog post.
  12. Always think very carefully about your blog post title. The best thing to do is stay away from kitschy titles and making sure that you are picking a chain of words that potential readers may be searching for.
