There is an expression which says that “time and tide wait for none”. As you may imagine, this relates to the value of time and its close connections with success. The reality is that even for the best of people motivation does not always come as a given. There is little surprise to that, considering that life requires a healthy balance between work and relaxation.
In this article, we will tackle the subject of time management, outlining 5 crucial tips which will allow you to get on with responsibilities, tasks, and goals in a fast and more efficient way.
In This Post:
Plan in advance
Benjamin Franklin once said that by failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. This is especially true when it comes to your business needs and goals. Schedule a day of the day, week and month in which you can put everything pen to paper.
Otherwise, purchase a whiteboard and start writing down the things you’d like to achieve, both short-term and long-term. This way you will be able to hold yourself accountable for your accomplishments, or lack of them. Additionally, it will help you know what you need to work on.
Define your priorities
This goes hand in hand with the first point. As you wake up think about the most important things which you would like to achieve. However, don’t overwhelm yourself with several different responsibilities, as this will make them all seem like un-pleasurable chores.
Listen to audiobooks
Education is the best tool for motivation. If you enjoy learning and reading, audiobooks will be able to give you the boost you need. Needless to say, most people spend a considerable amount of time being unproductive, and while this is acceptable under some circumstances, responsibilities will catch up with you. What makes audiobooks ideal is that you can listen to them while performing other tasks (i.e. washing dishes, running on the treadmill).
Schedule isolation
Whereas isolation is not usually a recommendation, taking the time to fully concentrate on different tasks is invaluable advice. Distractions from social media (Facebook, Email, Instagram, and Twitter) are to be avoided when trying to focus on the task at hand. Thus, switch off your phone for a couple of hours- the Internet will still be there when you get back!
Increase your daytime hours
It’s no secret that most people are more focused during the day, and that’s because at night our bodies are more tired, hungry, or simply ready to relax. However, this isn’t applicable for each person. Because people are unique, choosing the time of day where you feel you are most productive will depend on your personal preferences. For example, if you like working during the daytime, by the time the sun goes down you’ll be able to enjoy your friends and family, and that can help you achieve the healthy balance we all strive for.
Conclusion
While these 5 time management tips are a great start to you being more efficient with your time, there are many other ways in which you can become productive. Although it’s easier to make excuses about how the day is too short, there are enough hours in the day to make a positive difference in your life.
