There are several advantages to working from home. Depending on your individual situation, some of these perks may be more appealing than others. Here are a four points to consider.

1. Comfortable Environment

When you work from home, you have the freedom to create the workspace most comfortable for you. Whether it’s in the living room near your family or in a quiet home office, it’s easier to get work done in a place where you feel relaxed.

Depending on your job description, it may even be possible to work at the beach or while living a nomadic life on the road… something many people only dream about.

2. Car Expense Savings

For many people, driving back and forth to work adds up to be a substantial expense. That being said, this benefit of home-based employment is probably one of the most appreciated.

You typically save money on gas and car maintenance when you work at home. Commuting to and from an actual workplace takes up time. So, working from home will give you more time in the day to get things done or (better yet) more time to take it easy.

If you do need to telecommute into an actual office, be sure to research and compare cars to find one with good gas mileage and low maintenance options.

3. No (or Reduced) Office Politics

If you work with family members, this may not be completely true. However, when your home is your office it cuts WAY down on office politics and gossip. This, in turn, can result in less stress as well. What could be better than that?

4. Flexible Schedule

There are work from home positions and self-employment opportunities that allow for flexible schedules, with more being added all the time. This is a great option if you prefer to work part-time or don’t have a babysitter readily available 24/7.

These are just four (of many) of the advantages of working from home. Chances are; once you try it, you’ll never want to go back to a traditional work environment. More and more employers are hiring virtual workers than ever before. It really is a great time to research your options further!
