If you have read that blogging is no longer the cool thing to do and has not been useful to anyone for some time then you may need to think again. Social media has exploded on to the scene in recent years and it has grown to become a world where people can share their feelings, their likes and dislikes as well as share content, so perhaps it is understandable as to why people feel that blogging is a waste of time.

Social media is convenient and has a ready-made audience but there is no doubt that blogging is great for your business. In fact, it is extremely important and here is why:

Traffic

Blogging can help to increase traffic and the number of visitors to your website. It is the ideal way to deliver content that is relevant to your audience and if it is valuable to them, the chances are, they will share it on their social media pages. This in itself would also help to increase traffic. Along with this, search engines thrive on new content due to the way sites are indexed. This means that the more you blog the more visible you become, particularly if you use the right keywords.

Ranking

Blogging will also improve your ranking for long-tail search queries and keywords. A normal website that does not have a blog will look static because the content will very rarely change and that makes it difficult to rank. However, your website could rank because of keywords that are specific to your industry  such as “Plumber in London” although without blogs that are not specific, it could find it hard to rank for longer terms such as “how to fix a  blocked drain”. Long tail searches are not very common but they can be seen to achieve increased conversion rates.

Industry Expert

A blog will only strengthen your position within your industry and it will give people a feeling that you are the experts. A good blog will provide answers to questions that customers may be asking. Therefore, creating valuable content that your audience can use and benefit from, will only work to turn your blog into a place that people can turn to as a useful resource.

Builds a Persona

These days, it is important that your business has a personality that people can relate to.  An ‘About Us’ page will only offer so much which means that regular blogging will help to build a relationship with your audience. Readers will feel that they know your brand and business along with your values and what you want to offer. Through a creating a blog, you will have the opportunity to voice your thoughts and this will help to build up trust which can only help your business.

Social Media

If you have a social media presence, then blogging enhance this. A social media presence is good, every business should have one but with a blog you can add content that backs up your presence. Through sharing your blog on social media, you can encourage people to visit your site and this will result in clicks, leads and eventually sales. Initially buying some followers for your account can help create the buzz required to give you a life – don’t knock it – some of the best known names do it.

Newsletter Bait

To enhance your blog and your business, a regular newsletter can work wonders. You can promote your blog in the newsletter, highlighting new posts and relevant posts. This can lead to excellent results for your business.

So, if you thought that blogging held very little importance for your business in 2017, then you really do need to push those thoughts aside and pay attention to how powerful it will continue to be.

All of the above show that blogging is more important for businesses now than ever before. As Google and people require quality and informative content, blogs can benefit sites no end. So, get blogging now!
