Branding sounds like an overly sophisticated strategy or an unnecessary hassle a business can afford to forego. When used effectively, albeit, the strategy not only promotes a noticeable increase in customer acquisition and retention rates but a concurrent improvement in the efficiency of resource utilization. Here are five tips for novice business owners and managers who are serious about increasing their customer’s brand awareness.

Trim the Fat

How you define your brand will determine how others will see it. Being specific and cutting the irrelevant information from your reports and posts will help achieve that goal. Create a checklist of your business’ core strengths, particularly the skills and expertise it has at its disposal. Focus on what makes your brand stand out, what it holds important, and what mission it is aiming for.

Invest in a Good Logo

Logos are everything when it comes to business branding. The moment a person sees a glowing letter “M” at the middle of the desert, he/she knows it’s a McDonald’s branch. The same goes for other successful brands, such as Microsoft, Apple, and so forth. Bring on board the top designers who can create a relevant, effective, and appealing brand logo that exudes authenticity and integrity.

Open up a PPC Channel

Different marketing channels exist for increasing brand awareness, one of which is pay per click marketing. Basically, pay per click marketing is an internet model wherein advertisers get paid a commission every time a customer clicks your advertisements from their blog post or website. Use pay per click marketing to complement your organic search channels.

Dare to be Different

Distancing yourself from the rest of the herd is bound to attract attention. Consumers notice brands that offer something unique and fresh through their products/services. As a small business or startup owner, being different is actually an advantage you have against big brands who are bogged down by thick layers of red tape.

Talk to the Right People

It’s a good quality to try and talk with anyone and everyone you meet on the road. However, it’s much smarter and more fruitful if you manage your time talking to the right partners and consumers. People who are established in their respective niches and those who operate large websites and blogs can help disseminate information about your company at a much greater scale and speed than the regular Joe or Jane you meet on the street.

Branding will cost you money and time initially, but the potential returns on these investments can be tenfold that. Have faith in your brand and try to bring it up anywhere and everywhere you go.
