While you might have heard you can save money clipping coupons, did you also know that you can actually make money clipping coupons? In this difficult economy, it seems everyone is looking for ways they can save money and even bring in a little extra money to help make ends meet. Although clipping coupons might not at first sound that lucrative, as it turns out a growing number of people have shrewdly discovered that coupons hold the hidden ability to actually bring in some extra cash. Over the course of the last two years online coupon use has actually doubled.

At first glance it might appear that clipping coupons would not net you more than a few cents saved on a bag of dog food here or a bottle of dish detergent there. When you stop to more closely examine coupon clipping; however, it becomes apparent that there is actually quite a bit of money to be made by taking the time to scour circulars and even the Internet for coupons. Clipping coupons can help you to actually earn money in a couple of different ways.

Saving money makes money

First, consider this: whether you work from home or you have a traditional job, you are going to pay an average of 20% in payroll and income taxes. Any money you save clipping coupons; however, is completely tax-free. Take away that 20% you would otherwise pay in taxes and your time spent clipping coupons suddenly nets you much more than you originally thought.

How much money can you actually save using coupons? Naturally, that depends on how much time you want to dedicate to it. While there are now television shows that highlight some savvy shoppers filling up shopping carts laden with hundreds of dollars worth of items and paying only pennies, the average shopper can save around $125 per month on their purchases using coupons. Whatever amount of money you save by clipping coupons could be used to start a retirement account for your golden years or a college fund for your children. $125 per month over the course of the year will net you a $1,500 to sock away. By the time you are thinking of retirement or the kids are ready to head off for a college, you will have a tidy little nest egg.

All of the money you save should be put directly into some type of long-term savings account if at all possible, which means that you will earn money because of the interest that money makes. Over time, you could make hundreds of dollars just from interest, and that doesn’t include all the cash you managed to save.

Another great way to make money using coupons is to use your coupons to buy large items (like electronics) at cheap prices. You can then turn around and sell the same items for more than you paid, but less than retail and bank the difference in cash. Everyone today is looking for deals and this method benefits you as well as the person who buys from you. With the convenience of the Internet, you can easily utilize auction or other websites to take full advantage of this technique.

Where to Look for Coupons

Regardless of how you choose to use your coupons, to begin you will need to start a stash of coupons. Circulars in your newspaper are a great place to start, but you will be able to find far more coupons by visiting some online coupon sites. If this is your first time to look for coupons online, you might find it confusing as there are so many available. ShoppingKim.com is a great site to check in with when you want to make certain you are on top of the latest cyber deals and discounts. Spend some time online looking for different possible sites that will help you make the most of your shopping trips.

If you are like most people today, every little bit helps. Unlike many schemes that promise to make you money, taking the time to clip a few coupons really can put a few bucks in your pocket. Happy clipping!

  1. I have many many coupons and can also get as much as we want. I would like to know if you could use another coupon clipper. I also ship coupons overseas to military bases and also the military bases’ can use coupons up to a 6 month expiration date. I also had an idea to start a coupon/craft/ helpful household shortcut tips. Could I get your advice. Thanks Taresa if you don’t mind anybody can go to my email and email me if you would be interested in receiving the newsletter. I would be sneding out a wonderful newsletter once a month. The cost is going to be around $5.00 a month.

  2. Another way you could earn and save money at the same time is if you sign up for sites like Swagbucks or Toluna. Basically it’s kinda the same thing as surfing the internet using Google or Yahoo, except that you earn points that you can use to redeem giftcards from Amazon, Walmart, etc. That’s Swagbucks. You can also use Toluna to complete surveys, although I think it’s kinda boring to do just that, so I signed up for both and it definitely saved me something like 100$ a month.
