Pests can cause some major damage and spread some serious diseases. They are opportunistic, so if your home office is an environment they can thrive in, they will gladly make it their home.
Here are some tips on how to avoid having destructive pests visit your office or work space.
- Keep all food sealed and put away. Clean up any crumbs, and make sure you put your food in sealed containers that can’t be gnawed through. If you can’t encourage staff to clean up after themselves, you should have a nightly cleaner come and do the job for you.
- Tidying up is key to preventing pests. Make sure there is no food left in the bin by emptying them regularly. Sweeping and dusting is crucial to make sure there’s no crumbs left behind that pests can feed on.
- Declutter the office as much as possible. Clutter is prime housing for a lot of pests. Keeping junk around the office makes it easy for pests to move in, and makes the office hard to treat if you have to call in the professionals.
- Invest in a professional pest control contract with a reputable extermination company. They should be able to come out to your office space at any time to treat the problem, no matter how large or small. If you work in the London area, try out these guys at http://www.pestcontrol4london.co.uk/.
- Make sure that the kitchen area of your office is clean, including the microwave and the fridge. Any food left over or water left to stand is a major attraction for all types of pests.
- Encourage others to take their food home with them. Pests want to snack on the same things as you do, so don’t leave your snacks on the desk for pests to get.
Although these measures don’t sound like a very big deal, just this small bit of prevention work is worth a whole lot more than the price of exterminating the pests once they infest.
If you’re office does end up having a pest infestation, let your local pest control company know straight away.
