The nation’s top ten CEOs have demonstrated that they have the talent necessary to warrant these high paying salaries. Many of these CEOs have served nearly 10 years and are constantly working to improve the position of their companies. Time will only tell where their leadership will lead in the coming years.
1. Warren Buffett — Berkshire Hathaway: $19.5 billion
Warren Buffett is no stranger to the world’s wealthiest people list. But $19.5 billion is a far cry from $100,000 salary he acquired in 2006. He’s been ranked number one and number three in 2008 and 2011, respectively. He’s highly influential and has received accolades in Time magazine for his efforts.
2. Bill Gates — Microsoft: $ 3,710,000,000
Bill Gates has been in the top earning and world’s richest people for numerous years. In fact, in 2014, he reclaimed his spot as the world’s richest person with a net worth of approximately $76 billion.
3. Frank VanderSloot — Melaleuca: Undisclosed
Frank L.VanderSloot reported that he does not disclose his income or his net worth, but his net worth is estimated to be $1 billion. He grew the company’s value to between $3.2 billion to $3.9 billion, and he owns 55 percent of the voting stock and 44 percent of the non-voting stock. He is the ninety-second largest landowner in the United States.
3. John Hammergren — McKesson: $131 million
John Hammergren is no stranger to earning a high annual salary. In 2010, McKesson paid him $51.8 million, and in 2011, he earned $145 million including stock options. He earned his MBA from Xavier University in 1987 and was born in St. Paul, Minnesota.
4. Howard Schultz — Starbucks: $118 million
Schultz was paid $1.5 million in salary, and he received a $2.3 million bonus. The other part of his salary came from exercising $103 million in stock options.
5. Ralph Lauren — Ralph Lauren: $66.7 million
Ralph Lauren is one of the most well-known clothing designers who is worth $6.5 billion. His multi-billion dollar business is recognized globally.
6. Michael Fascitelli — Vornado Realty: $64.4 million
Michael served as the CEO for four years before stepping down. During his tenure, the company expanded and made numerous acquisitions.
7. Bob Iger — Walt Disney: $53.3 million
Iger has served as the CEO of this household name since 2005. In his tenure, he oversaw the acquisition of Pixar Animation Studios in 2006, Marvel Entertainment in 2009, and Lucasfilm in 2012.
8. Stephen Hemsley — UnitedHealth Group: $48.8
This graduate of Fordham University has served as the CEO of this company since 2006. Though he was involved in numerous scandals, he managed to earn $1.3 million for his salary before earning a salary of $48.8 million.
9. Michael Watford — Ultra Petroleum: $43.7 million
Watford has served his nine year tenure at Ultra Petroleum. He helped the market grow in value from $200 million to $1 billion in three and one-half years. He attended the University of Florida.
10. Jamie Dimon — JPMorgan Chase: $42 million
Dimon served as CEO and was named as one of the World’s 100 Most Influential People in 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2011. In 2011, he was named CEO of the year, and he received a $23 million and $20 million for in salary in 2013. He earned $42 million in 2012.
