Wouldn’t it be great to see some business growth? If you know how to run a digital marketing campaign, your chances for success go up exponentially!
If this is the first time you’re running a campaign, you might have some questions. Namely, where the heck do you even begin?
Be sure to keep reading, because we’re walking you through five key elements that every digital marketing strategy needs.
In This Post:
1. Clear Goals
The best digital marketing campaigns start with clear indications of what needs to be achieved. Moreover, those goals need to be as specific as possible.
Wanting more visitors to your website, for example, doesn’t give many indicators for success. On the other hand, aiming for a 25% increase in web traffic is much more attainable.
Try and follow the SMART guidelines and make your goals:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Realistic
- Time-bound
The clearer your goals, the easier they’ll be to measure.
2. An Understanding of Your Audience
Now that you have your goals, you have to ask yourself: how can you best reach your audience?
This might require some research on your part. If you’ve yet to do so, now is the perfect time to create your customer persona.
Think of your customer persona as a fictional amalgamation of your audience. You’ll want to include their age, gender, education level, income, browsing habits, and so on.
With these in mind, you’ll have a better understanding of how and where to spread your message.
3. A Smart Budget
The great thing about the Internet is that you can do a ton of marketing for free. But at the same time, you’ll only get so far without spending money.
You might need to redesign your website or implement a pay-per-click (PPC) campaign, for example.
Budget wisely so you’re not surprised with a hefty bill at the end of your campaign. It may cost less to outsource your campaign marketing.
4. Great Content
No matter what services you offer or products you sell, content is king in the world of digital marketing. Blogs, videos, and social posts are cost-effective, easy, and efficient ways to reach your audience.
It’s important to note that your content shouldn’t aim to sell a product. While it’s fine to plug your business during your call-to-action and link to your website or other projects, the key purpose of a content strategy is to inform the reader.
Think of it as an appetizer of sorts.
5. Basic SEO Knowledge
For better or worse, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the crux of the digital marketing world. If you’re unfamiliar, SEO determines how and where a website ranks on search engines.
For reference, an estimated 82% of smartphone users research products they’re about to buy.
If your website is one of the first to show up when a customer does their research, you might be able to sway them into purchasing your product or choosing your website for the sale.
Some SEO basics to brush up on include:
- Keyword research
- Website optimization and mobile-friendly design
- Image optimization
- URL structure
Again, don’t be afraid to outsource.
