Kim Rowley & Nate Meyer at FMTC Meet Market Booth

Organizing an expo is probably not as difficult as you might think. Consider the following tips provided below on how to set up a successful business expo to help you get started.

Reach Out to Sponsors

One great way to increase the exposure your expo gets is to team up with a sponsor. A big name in your field is sure to draw the attention of both customers and vendors to the event. Companies are usually willing to accept, especially when offered incentive such as banner exposure or other types of free advertising.

Choose a Great Location

The venue you choose for your expo is a major factor in its success. Many locations, which typically host such events, offer marketing services at an additional cost. With these, you can easily advertise the event to the local market and beyond.

Another thing to consider is the capacity of the desired space and the projected number of guests you hope will attend. If your event includes guest speakers, be sure there’s a stage available for these individuals to give their presentations.

Provide Food

When you provide food for you expo attendees, chances are many will stay and do business longer. Hire the best caterer you can at the rate you can afford. Alternatively, reach out to local restaurants or food trucks in the area to see if they’re willing to pay for space at the event. This way, you can feed guests as well as connect with new vendors at the same time. It’s a win-win situation!

Hire Help

Putting a trade show together is a lot of work, which involves doing many different things. Don’t be afraid to hire outside help with planning and executing these phases, especially if this is one of your first shows.

Here’s one last thing to keep in mind. If it’s in your budget, hiring people to oversee different aspects of the event (such as an event coordinator and a sales manager) goes a long way in taking the pressure off.
