When I heard that the top downloaded song this week on iTunes was “Girl Crush“, it gave me an idea for a new column here on WorkInMyPajamas.com. In the song, a girl crush appears to be someone that another girl is jealous of (because of a boy, no less), but the real definition of a girl crush is “an intense and typically non-sexual liking or admiration felt by one woman or girl for another.”  So in honor of “Woman Crush Wednesday”, I’m going to start writing about some of my girl crushes in the internet marketing space and why they are great aspirations.

And my first Woman Crush Wednesday is…. (drum roll)….

Melissa Salas

(I never pronounce her last name correctly; good thing I’m writing and not speaking this).

Woman Crush Wednesday

Melissa and I sharing a Frrrozen Hot Chocolate at Serendity 3 in New York City after seeing a Broadway Show last year.

I’ve known Melissa since her BuyTV days. I presume we met at an Affiliate Summit conference when she managed the Buy.com affiliate program through CJ. Then Rakuten bought them out, switched to Linkshare, changed the URL, and the rest is history. Melissa is now the Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations for Swiss Watch International.

Reasons why Melissa Salas is my girl crush

  • She always has a smile on her face.
  • Her bubbly personality lights up a room.
  • She’s a fierce breast cancer crusader.
  • She helps others in times of need.
  • She is beautiful inside and out.

Connect with Melissa Salas on LinkedIn, and I guarantee she’ll be your girl crush, too. 🙂
