Online Sales
Here’s another big business that has really picked up over the past couple of years. Now this one is a bit more high risk because you need to be able to reach consumers, carry inventory/product, and set up some sort of shipping process. There are all kinds of websites designed at offering people a place to buy and sell goods, many of them offering free listings. If you’re good at marketing, have excellent people skills and an eye for what’s “hot”, then this could be the business for you.

This is a business that obviously isn’t meant for everyone, but for those who love making crafts and being creative, this could be for you. There are a number of businesses that you can buy into in order to become an independent sales representative. Often they provide you with the marketing materials, an online page/store front, and access to the inventory so you don’t have to stock it yourself. Because the brand already exists, half of the marketing battle is already conquered for you. This tends to be a lower-risk business to start. Just be sure to pick one that isn’t already saturating your local area with other representatives.
Blogging
This is a relatively new business idea, but blogging can prove to be quite lucrative. Keep in mind that this one takes a while to build an audience and reputation, so you may want to keep your day job for the time being.
