They’re alive. You’re alive. Interpersonal relationships when telecommuting can seem robotic and distant if you leave out your bit of human care. Not checking on the humanity of who you’re interacting with can lead to some real issues; whether they leave you for a more hospitable company or end up being a bot, it’s important to make sure humanity touches your telecommute.

Why Human Elements Are Important for Security

Who is that looking in on you, signing forms? Can you confirm that they are a real person doing real things with you? Confirming humanity isn’t anything new online. Captchas, “I am not a robot” buttons, and even just an email click back can confirm that someone is real enough to give you money or otherwise enter into a binding contract. Human elements are an important confirmation when signing contracts, beginning work, and insuring payment. Heaven forbid, if any negotiations goes south, there needs to be a real life person or business you can deal with.

Why Humanity Helps Your Business

You might be working from home, telecommuting over the phone and Skyping into meetings, but connecting in the other ways like a handshake or just asking about their day. That and your excellent skills and services are why people keep coming back to you. Being a real human is a large part of expanding and maintaining your business. It puts out a connection, a sense of care, and sells you beyond the straight numbers. Humanity helps you stay in business with other humans.

Being a human is a helpful trait when trying to make things happen with other humans. Smiling faces increase conversions, and emotion is one of the best sales tools there is. Those are human elements that need to be added in order to gain your customer’s trust and loyalty. People like to know that they are being cared for, even in a mechanized system. If their snack gets stuck in a vending machine, they’d like someone to come help them; if their online order needs changes, they want a follow up email that it’s confirmed, or a line that they can reach a person at. Customers and clients want to feel like they will be taken care of with your company, and reaching a real human who wants to help is part of that care.

Your customer/clients/boss/coworkers also want to know that they are dealing with valid human beings that really care about them, that are good at their job, and can provide something for them. Of course not all human elements are the best for your company. If you hire only felons for your digital security company, it may not be seen as a super secure company, or if your employees end up being a little nuts or unsavory, the human elements could come back to bite you.Performing background checks, training your employees, and laying out clear expectations of what is appropriate will help you chose great human elements that can succeed with you.

Staying human is important for your business, especially if your communication is all digital. Do business with people for better security and a better business.
