Adding organization to your home office doesn’t have to be overwhelming. There are many simple upgrades you can do to keep your work area neat and ordered. Here are four easy ways to make your office work better for you.
1. Get the Right Desk
There are a variety of types of desks to choose from depending on your needs. Make sure you select one with sufficient storage for your supplies. Consider how many drawers you will need and whether you want room on top to keep often-used items. If your space is limited, you may want to choose a desk that can be folded up when not in use. Adding albion casters to your desk can allow you to move it around to different areas easily.
2. Add Sufficient Storage
The key to staying organized is having a dedicated place for everything. You’ll want to make sure your office has enough storage to keep everything you need where you want it to be. Depending on how you use your office, you should consider installing flexible shelving or stackable filing cabinets. You can even repurpose older furniture, such as an antique dresser, to add unique storage options to your space.
3. Update Your Lighting
Making sure you have sufficient light will make working easier and be less of a strain on your eyes. Be sure to have a quality overhead light source. You can also add flexible lighting options such as a lamp or wall sconces to make sure the area you are working in is well lit.
4. Decorate
If you are in a space you love, you’ll feel more prepared to work. You should decorate your work area in a way that makes you feel inspired, calm and ready to work. Be sure to consider what type of work you will be doing and whether your office is a multi-use space. You can create a cozy area to relax if you like to be able to take breaks throughout the day. If your office is also your workout room, you can include cute storage options like baskets or bins for your equipment when it’s not in use. Try to avoid decorative items that will distract you while you work. Focus on creating a space that feels comfortable as well as professional.
Staying organized will allow you to work more efficiently. If you are in a clean, organized, comfortable space you’ll feel more professional and be more motivated to get done with your work.
