Nobody likes a Negative Nelly. So, what we’re about to say isn’t intended to be negative. Rather, it’s meant to put a little pep in your step and help you get out there determined to win the race.
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) once reported that 87% of real estate agents fail in the first five years and 75% fail in the first year. That’s, umm, disheartening.
But, if you start to dig around, you’ll find out that the main reason why Realtors fail is that they’re ill-prepared. They didn’t have a clear game plan, a good mentor, or a steady flow of conquerable tasks to complete.
To help you avoid becoming a statistic, we have six real estate agent books that will help you build an arsenal of success. They’ll help you draw out a game plan and – most importantly – stick to it. Roll up your Amazon cart. Here goes!
In This Post:
1. Before You Are Licensed
The full title of this book is Before You Are Licensed: 13 Actions to Jump Start Your Future Real Estate Career. Author Katherine Scarim sums up the premise of her book with this line: “If you succeed quickly, you won’t have to quit. It’s that simple.”
What’s she’s getting at is that most real estate books say the same thing: save up three to six months of living expenses and you’ll be fine. But, what if it’s time to start a career in real estate and you don’t have, say, $15,000?
Then, you can implement her tactics about market knowledge, a client base, marketing materials, and more. It’s a true “from the ground up” book, making it one of the best books for new real estate agents. It can get you started in such a way that you don’t become a failed statistic.
2. The Millionaire Real Estate Agent
Here’s another one with a lengthy title. The full title of this book is The Millionaire Real Estate Agent: It’s Not About the Money It’s About Being the Best You Can Be. Pretty potent, right? Of course, it’s understood that most Realtors aren’t going to be millionaires in the first month.
Perhaps the goal isn’t to be a millionaire ever. But, you want to be successful, right? Well, taking on a millionaire mindset from the beginning won’t hurt a thing.
This book is actually a step-by-step handbook. It breaks down the concepts that drive production and deals a lot with lead generation (the center of it all). And, if this isn’t eye-catching enough for you, the Amazon reviews are with over 1,000 nearly five-star reviews. This is maybe the best book for real estate agents.
3. Every Day Agent
Perhaps real estate agents are prone to verbosity. Here’s the full title on this one: Every Day Agent: Straight Talk & Proven Methods to Grow Your Real Estate Business.
The author, Whitney Ellis, is an experienced agent and broker who got tired of seeing too many agents give up because, although they were licensed, they weren’t fully trained.
So, she dives into proven sales tactics that’ll help Realtors close the deal and, of course, deals with the benefits of motivated seller leads. You’re going to trust that Whitney has your back. What makes this one of the best books for Realtors is the fact that it’ll make you feel more equipped than ever to get out there and corner your market.
4. Shift
This book is written by the same author as The Millionaire Real Estate Agent. But, this is a nice one if you’re not just starting out. In fact, in these COVID times, this might be an encouraging read.
The full title is Shift: How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times. And, despite its title, it actually deals with the bad times and the good. Whether the market is falling and you need to adapt, or the market is rising and you need to amp up your game, Shift is sure to offer some insights to get you through.
5. Prospect
In keeping with our apparent theme here, the full title here is PROSPECT: The Real Estate Lead Generation Manual. What flour is to a baker, leads are to a Realtor. Author Brian Icenhower talks about how real estate agents can’t sit around in their office and wait for a call.
Rather, they have to get out into the community and generate the kind of leads that they know will pay off. It’s a time investment that, when done systematically and not haphazardly, will benefit your bank account.
6. 500 Social Media Marketing Tips
Okay, so it’s not just Realtors that love really long book titles. It may be marketers in general. While this book isn’t aimed at real estate marketing, it is going to help you (or anyone) generate a slew of leads through the gold mine – social media marketing.
The full title of this well-reviewed book is 500 Social Media Marketing Tips: Essential Advice, Hints and Strategy for Business: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Snapchat, and More! Whew; that was a mouthful.
But, the best news is, it’s also chock full of supremely useful tips. This book drives at the underpinning of success: consistency. There needs to be a plan in place to build brand awareness, attract loyal customers (not just followers), and, ultimately, reach your business goals.
